Constructed from timber, the building is made in layers, each the height of a step, built up into a folded form, which came from extensive experimentation with different fabrics and which recalls the ceremonial cloth that the Buddha sits on.   Design by Heatherwick Studio, UK

  1. Is it just me or does the link take me to a different Heatherwick project?

Otherwise, interesting project. It seems that Heatherwick has an affinity for parallel lines wrapping themselves into shapes as also seen in his Longchamp and East Beach cafe. The top-view render of the building on the Heatherwick site looks like a topographic map on steroids. I like the concept, though, looking at the model, I am concerned about how waterproof the completed building would be.
