This bus shelter is a small part of a larger project which includes a pedestrian bridge over the Milwaukee River.   The drawings on the linked site show strongly how a design concept can hold together from the urban scale down to the technical detail.    The concrete base detail of the bus shelter is really nice – the bus shelter structure does not simply transfer into footings, but there is a very subtle transition taking place.

More MIT Student Work.   Also a link to the architects’ website.  This house makes beautiful use of the materiality of steel and its modification by time and weathering.

This is an interesting manufacturer’s website, advocating steel in residential construction.
